Match a recorded purchase
- Open Banking, then Bank feed.
- Find the settled withdrawal under For Review.
- Select Match existing.
- Check the proposed purchase, amount and date. Use Search expenses to find an older record by number or merchant.
- Select Match expense.
An expense match requires the full amount, the same currency and the same business payment account. It supports one withdrawal for one expense. Partial, split and pending-withdrawal expense matches are unavailable.
Matching only connects the bank evidence to the posted expense. It does not create another purchase or journal. If the business has not recorded the purchase, select Record expense to open a prefilled expense form. Review the merchant, payment date, categories and total before saving. A bank-origin draft reserves that withdrawal while you finish or wait for approval.
The expense detail shows bank matching separately from its accounting status. A posted expense may still be unmatched. Removing the bank match leaves the posted purchase in your books.
Once the withdrawal belongs to a completed reconciliation, correct that reconciliation before removing the match or voiding the expense. Do not use a second purchase entry to repair a matching error.
