Attach supporting files

  1. Open Expenses & bills, then Expenses.
  2. Open the expense.
  3. Under Receipt, select Add supporting receipts and choose your files.
  4. Select Attach receipts.

You can also choose receipts while entering an expense. The expense supports up to five files in total, each no larger than 10 MB. Accepted formats are PDF, JPEG, PNG and WebP. A receipt is optional when entering a purchase manually.

Select Open beside a file to view it. Files require access to that expense; their storage address is not public. Adding evidence to a posted purchase does not create another accounting entry. Posted evidence is retained when the expense is voided.

Retrying the same entry reuses the purchase and its original receipts. A retry does not need permission to edit an already-posted purchase, but adding new evidence still needs expense editing permission.

If an upload fails during entry, the purchase stays as a draft and does not post. Follow the saved draft link, keep your original files, and retry the upload. A failed save keeps enhanced-form entries and selected files available. If your browser reloads a normal form after an error, select the files again.

The purchase inbox can also attach an uploaded source to an existing expense. Verify the source belongs to that purchase before attaching it. This consumes the source once and does not post another purchase.
