On this page
Post a reviewed release from one donor restriction in one fund. You need View donor restrictions and Review and release donor restrictions, approved mappings, and an active Operating fund. The restriction and selected fund must be active. QixCount records your signed-in identity as reviewer.
Release funds
- Under Nonprofit, select Restrictions.
- Select the restriction to open its record.
- Select Release funds to open the panel.
- Enter Date.
- Select Fund; each option shows today's remaining amount.
- Enter Amount.
- Enter Why this is released, up to 5,000 characters.
- Select Add supporting file and wait for its filename.
- For a purpose restriction, confirm your review that the donor's purpose is met.
- Select Post release.
A time-only restriction has no purpose checkbox. Time terms block release before the end date. QixCount checks the chosen fund's balance at the release date and later posted dates. Today's displayed amount does not guarantee availability on another date. Closed periods can also block posting.
Release amounts can be up to $9,999,999,999,999.99, subject to the selected fund's available restricted balance.
Each release or undo needs 1–50 PDF, JPG, JPEG, or PNG files up to 10 MB each. Missing evidence or a required attestation keeps posting disabled with a reason. Validation errors reopen the panel with your entries.
Undo a release
- Find the release under Releases.
- Select Undo on its row.
- Enter Why are you undoing this?, up to 5,000 characters.
- Select Add supporting file and wait for its filename.
- Select Post undo.
What happens next
A release moves the amount from net assets with donor restrictions to net assets without donor restrictions, in the same fund and with the source coding. Cash does not move. See the coding glossary.
An undo posts a reversing entry dated today or the original release date if later. The original release, review, evidence, and undo remain listed. Journal links require journal viewing permission. Neither action transfers money through your bank.
