My 1099 total looks wrong

Compare the selected year, bill payments, checks and saved form amount using the common automatic counting rule.

Who can do this
Owners, or people with View financial reports; form changes need Export reports and 1099s
Where
Tax, then 1099 forms
You'll need
Tax enabled in Features, the form year and the vendor's payment records
On this page

Start with the selected year and vendor. The automatic amount and payment list use the same records, but a saved form amount is a snapshot.

Compare the underlying records

  1. Open Tax, then 1099 forms.
  2. Check the selected year.
  3. Open the vendor's form.
  4. Compare its saved amount with Payments Included and the vendor's payment records.

The automatic amount and the form's payment list use the same rule: bill payments and checks dated in the selected year whose posted journal still stands. Voided or reversed payments are excluded. A check counts only with Track for 1099 selected and a vendor chosen. This selection does not determine the treatment of your own payments.

Check how the form was created

A manually created or edited form stores the amount entered on the form. Bulk creation stores the automatic calculation at creation time and skips a vendor that already has an original form for that year. It does not refresh that existing form from later payment changes. Saved and filed forms do not change when the counting rule changes. A past form's current list can therefore total more than its saved amount. Review with your accountant whether a correction is needed.

Use Correct or void a form record for the controls available at its current status. If the sidebar row is absent, review Features.

Ask your accountant to agree which payments and amounts belong on your form. Contact support when saved amounts or the included list cannot be explained; provide the year, vendor, form status and payment references without sending a tax identification number.
