My teammate cannot see something
Check membership type and task permissions when two people see different controls.
- Who can do this
- Business owners reviewing another person's access
- Where
- Settings, then People & access, then Members
- You'll need
- The teammate's access type and the exact page or action they need
Two people in the same business can have different access. Viewing a record and changing it can require separate permissions.
Review the person's access
- Open Settings, then People & access, then Members.
- Find the teammate and check their access type.
- For an internal teammate, review their role using Change access.
- Check the exact task permissions in Roles and permissions.
Only owners can use these member controls. You cannot change your own role through them, and owner or firm-accountant access has separate restrictions.
Match the access type to the task
A free viewer has a fixed viewing preset. Individual role changes do not turn that access into editing or approval access. Moving a viewer to an internal teammate needs an available user place.
An assigned firm's accountant uses the firm's fixed permissions. Do not try to change firm access through an internal teammate's role menu; review the firm connection instead.
If both people have the expected access, check that they opened the same business and that its feature is enabled. Contact support with the page, action and error message if the difference remains. Do not send passwords or share accounts to bypass the restriction.
