A bank transaction appears twice

Identify two feed records or two postings before excluding a duplicate or correcting the books.

Both records and the matching bank statement line

Two similar descriptions do not prove two payments. Compare the statement, feed records and posted entries before changing either row.

Identify what is repeated

  1. Open Banking, then Bank feed.
  2. Find both records across For Review and In QixCount.
  3. Compare their account, date, amount and reference with the statement.
  4. Check whether either record already has a journal or match.

Plaid imports skip identifiers already received. A posted version normally updates its pending record. File imports use different duplicate checks, so do not assume a file upload will recognize an overlapping Plaid record.

Choose the correction for the record

If a duplicate is still unused in review, follow Exclude a record. Exclusion does not reverse a journal and does not remove the record from the banking balance calculation.

If both records reached the books, review the posted correction workflow with your bookkeeper. Matching a bank record to an existing payment does not itself create another payment or journal.

Contact support if you cannot identify which record owns the posting, or if pending and posted versions remain separate unexpectedly. Include both references and the statement line; avoid changing both records while the cause is uncertain.
