Review activity and equity after year-end close
Activity reports retain closed-year activity and equity includes earnings not yet moved by closing.

General equity includes calculated earnings that remain in income accounts, including an earlier-earnings line when needed. Contra accounts, which have the opposite normal balance from their main type, reduce the corresponding type totals. These changes can alter displayed figures without requiring you to enter a correction journal.
Generate the reports again for the same business and dates when comparing a prior download. Do not add an entry solely to restore a number from an older display. The trial balance and general ledger answer a different question from activity reports because they retain closing lines.
You need View financial reports permission. Read Why two reports can differ and Read the balance sheet, then inspect the general ledger for a specific account.
