Banking, then Bank accounts
On this page

Banking brings your account records, incoming transactions, and statement reconciliation together.

Follow the banking workflow

  1. Add a bank or credit card account, or connect through Plaid.
  2. Review the bank feed and decide how to handle each transaction.
  3. Reconcile an account against a statement.

Bank accounts with balances and connection status

Adding an account records its opening balance for banking. It does not create an opening journal entry in your books. Review bank balances and ledger balances separately when setting up an existing business.

For imported Stripe charges, refunds, and payouts, review Stripe activity.

Good to know

In General and Nonprofit, open Banking, then Bank accounts to see your accounts. You need View reconciliations. Owners have all business permissions; staff and accountants need the permissions assigned to their access.

Understand the account list

The list includes active and inactive accounts. Total Balance adds the current balances of active accounts. Open an account name for recent transactions, its linked general ledger account, and reconciliation information. The general ledger is the set of accounts used in your books.

Connection status is separate from transaction review and reconciliation status:

Connection label Meaning
Connected The account's connection status is healthy.
Syncing A sync is in progress.
Expired The account needs its connection checked.
Error A connection problem needs attention.
Manual The account has no Plaid connection.
