Who can do this and what you need

A new Nonprofit workspace starts with account mappings that need review. Until those mappings are approved, Overview shows Finish setup instead of financial figures, and Nonprofit posting is blocked.

Use an active Nonprofit workspace with an active or trial Nonprofit subscription. Each task requires its own permission. Owners have full access; staff need the relevant fund, program, mapping, gift, journal or report permission. A checklist link does not grant access.

Nonprofit workspaces use USD and accrual accounting. Ask the person responsible for your books to review the account choices and financial coding before posting.

The tasks include reviewing funds and bank accounts, approving mappings, and setting up programs. Use the mapping guide for approval. Pending mappings also offer Approve account mappings when you have the required permission.

The setup checklist links to the pages your access allows while tasks are pending. A task can already show as completed when an active fund, account or program exists, so use the sidebar to review that setup again.

Approval requires active accounts of the expected types, distinct accounts for the two net asset classes, and an active Operating fund. A fund tracks resources by purpose; it is separate from the donor restriction class used in the coding.

Record and review actual work

Select Open beside Record your first cash gift when you have a real gift to record. Review the donor, cash account and contribution allocations. Post gift creates a posted journal entry; it does not save an unposted draft.

Open beside Record your first expense opens the journal entry form. It saves a draft first. Review its accounts, fund and function coding before posting. Reports use retained posted history; a draft will not appear in those figures.

Read the glossary for fund, program, net asset class and function. Use Find your way around to return to setup and reports.

Import data: Plan your move to QixCount.

After approval, Overview shows the figures your viewing permissions allow. Needs you links to outstanding work. Unfinished setup can still appear there; Finish reopens the checklist.
