When a subscription ends or is suspended

Understand ended subscriptions, blocked business access and how to get help with renewal.

Who can do this
Business owners
On this page

An ended subscription can prevent you from entering a business. A suspended business shows Account Suspended instead of its books. Suspension blocks the books.

Find a way to renew

  1. Return to the business list. On the suspension screen, select Back to My Businesses.
  2. Look for Pay subscription on the business card.
  3. Open the payment link if it appears.
  4. Review and pay the correct subscription invoice using Pay a subscription invoice.

An existing public invoice payment link can also work when the business itself is suspended. If you have no payable invoice, contact support and identify the business and message you see.

What happens next

A verified regular subscription payment activates or extends the subscription. Automatic restoration of a suspended business applies only when its suspension reason is an expired subscription. A manual suspension or payment-failure suspension needs support review.

On an expired-subscription suspension screen, owners can select Renew Subscription to open Plan & billing. Use an available invoice payment link or contact support if no payable invoice exists. Other suspension reasons still block billing settings.

If you pay an invoice for a period that has already ended, your paid billing cycle runs from the day you pay.

For the recurring terms before an end date, see Understand your plan. To stop renewal, see Request subscription cancellation.

Good to know

For an expired-subscription suspension, owners with settings management access can still open billing settings to review renewal invoices. It does not delete the business's records.

Understand the subscription status

Status Meaning
Active The subscription is active, subject to its period end.
Trialing The subscription has trial terms. Check the trial end date; the status alone does not mean the trial is still running.
Past_due The subscription is marked past due. Ask billing support to review it.
Paused The subscription is paused. A new business can also have this status while setup or its first payment is incomplete.
Canceled Cancellation is recorded. General access can continue through a future period end; Nonprofit pages require an active or current trial subscription.
Expired The subscription is marked expired.

An end date that has passed can make a subscription inactive even before its displayed status changes. The expiry process includes active and trialing subscriptions whose period has ended, unless another current subscription covers the business. User-capacity changes are unavailable on ended trials and inactive subscriptions.
