Prepare exports from Xero
Gather separate exports and match their fields to QixCount CSV templates.
- Who can do this
- People with source records and the permissions for the chosen QixCount import type
- You'll need
- Access to the source exports; the chosen import permission to download a QixCount template
On this page
Use separate working files for the records you want to bring from Xero. QixCount accepts CSV lists and supported General opening records, rather than a complete copy of your Xero organization.
Match the supported fields
- Download the appropriate QixCount CSV template.
- Copy only that record type into the working file.
- Match account codes to the codes you will use in QixCount.
- Translate account types to
asset, liability, equity, revenueorexpense. - Convert slash dates to US month/day/year, or use
YYYY-MM-DDto avoid ambiguity. - Save the working file as CSV.
Some Xero-style headers, such as ContactName, AccountCode and InvoiceNumber, can match automatically. The review does not translate account type values or day/month dates. Inspect every match before committing. A contact needed as both a customer and a vendor belongs in both separate files.
Use the unpaid amount for each open document, rather than its original total. Open documents refer to an existing customer or vendor by an unambiguous display name or email address.
What happens next
Follow the import order and permission requirements: accounts, contacts, General open documents, then remaining opening balances. Nonprofit supports accounts and contacts only; contact support for its opening ledger.
Continue with importing accounts and checking the opening numbers. Read what cannot be moved before expecting historical detail to appear.
Good to know
Gather the source files
Confirm the current export options in Xero's export help. Use Xero's instructions for the controls available in your account.
Prepare an account list, contacts separated into customers and vendors, unpaid invoice and bill details, and a trial balance for the same transition date. Keep the original files as references while preparing QixCount copies.
