# My bank balance does not match

Check which balance you are comparing, then trace the difference against your statement.

Canonical: https://demo.qixcount.com/help/fix-a-problem/bank-balance-does-not-match

Who can do this: Owners, or people with *View reconciliations*

Where: Banking, then Bank accounts

You'll need: The statement for the account and the date you are checking

The account's current balance and a statement ending balance can cover different activity. Start by checking the account and date.

## Compare the same balance

1. Open **Banking**, then **Bank accounts**.
2. Select the account you are checking.
3. Compare **Current Balance** with the statement, noting its ending date.
4. For a connected account, check **Last Sync** under **Plaid Sync**.

A Plaid sync can refresh the current balance from the bank. When QixCount recalculates a banking balance from records, it starts with the opening balance and includes pending, cleared and reconciled activity. That calculation is separate from the posted ledger balance.

## Find the source of the difference

Use [Find a reconciliation difference](https://demo.qixcount.com/help/banking/find-a-difference) to compare the statement with the records for its dates. Check for missing or repeated records before changing an opening amount.

Excluding a feed row changes its review status; it does not remove the amount from the banking balance calculation. A difference that remains after the records and dates agree needs support review. Send the account name, statement date, both totals and any sync error. Do not send full account numbers.
