# Can I reopen a locked fiscal period?

Locking removes the ordinary reopen option and can block year-end entries.

No. The fiscal-period workflow reopens closed periods but refuses locked periods. The locking dialog uses **Lock Permanently** and has no corresponding unlock control. A lock also blocks closing entries that need to post into that period. Locking requires Manage fiscal periods (close/reopen/lock) permission and a period that is already closed.
