# Why can't my accountant open the business?

Firm access requires approval, a named assignment, active membership and two-step verification.

The business owner must approve the firm connection, then the firm owner must assign that accountant by name. Approval alone does not assign anyone, including the firm owner. The firm membership and assignment must remain active, and the accountant needs two-step verification. Revocation removes access through that connection.
