# Why can't I edit a filed 1099 form?

Draft and Generated forms allow edits; filed originals use separate correction records.

Ordinary editing is available for Draft and Generated forms, using *Export reports and 1099s* permission. After a form is Filed, the screen uses a separate correction or void record and retains the original. Creating a correction does not replace the original's status or submit a new filing.
