# Does an aging date restore old unpaid balances?

Aging dates change due-date buckets while using current document balances and statuses.

No. Accounts receivable and accounts payable aging use current unpaid amounts and document statuses. The selected date changes how due dates fall into aging buckets; it does not rebuild the balances from that past day or exclude later documents. A payment recorded since that date can change what appears. You need View financial reports permission. Read [AR aging](https://demo.qixcount.com/help/reports/ar-aging) or [AP aging](https://demo.qixcount.com/help/reports/ap-aging) before comparing a dated export with old books.
