Show project fields and reports, enable budgets, and choose whether invoices and bills require a project.

Canonical: https://demo.qixcount.com/help/budgets-and-projects/turn-on-project-tracking

Who can do this: Owners, or people with *Manage business settings, roles & permissions*

Where: Settings, then Features

Turn on project tracking to show project fields on invoices and bills and make project pages available. The setting applies to everyone in the business. You need **Manage business settings, roles & permissions** permission.

## Enable project tracking

1. Open **Settings**.
2. Select **Features**.
3. Turn on **Project tracking** in **Everyday**.
4. Turn on **Require a project on invoices and bills** if every invoice and bill must have a project.
5. Select **Save changes**.

The save bar appears after you make a change. If you open an older project tracking settings link, QixCount sends you to **Features**.

## Enable monthly budgets

On the same page, turn on **Budgets** in **Accounting**, then select **Save changes**. This enables the separate monthly account budgeting pages. A project's revenue target and cost budget are entered on that project.

## What happens next

Project tracking shows project fields and reports, while each person's permissions still control access. If the required-project switch is on, invoices and bills cannot be saved without a project. Create at least one project before entering those documents.

Turning a feature off hides it for everyone and keeps existing data. Turning project tracking off also clears its required-project setting. Turning it back on does not automatically restore that requirement.
