# Review bank matching exceptions

Inspect records requiring review and record how each exception was resolved.

Canonical: https://demo.qixcount.com/help/banking/exceptions

Who can do this: Owners, or people with *Perform reconciliation*; opening transaction details needs *View reconciliations*

Where: Banking, then Exceptions

## Inspect an exception

1. Open **Banking**, then **Exceptions**.
2. Review the record's **Priority**, date, account, description, amount, and exception reason.
3. Select **View Details** using the eye icon.
4. Check and correct the underlying record through its normal workflow.

The list orders critical, high, medium, then other priorities, with newer transactions first within each priority. It shows 25 records per page. Priority totals describe all unresolved review items, not only the filtered page.

Use **All Priorities** to filter by priority. Keep **All Types** selected to review the full range of reasons.

## When the bank changes a settled record

If the bank changes or removes a record that's reconciled, void, matched, on a reconciliation or added to the books, QixCount leaves the record as it is. It lists the record here at high priority as **Amount Mismatch**, even when the date is what changed. The line under the description shows what the bank now reports. The same happens when a pending record you already added posts at a different amount.

The books don't change. If the bank is right, correct the journal or match, then resolve the item.

## Record the resolution

1. Select the checkmark control labeled **Resolve**.
2. Choose **Resolution**: **Matched to record**, **Categorized manually**, **False positive (not an issue)**, or **Ignore this transaction**.
3. Enter **Notes (optional)**, up to 500 characters.
4. Select **Resolve**.

This records the resolution, time, person, and optional notes, and removes the requirement for human review. Choosing a resolution does not itself match, categorize, exclude, or post the bank transaction.

## Dismiss an item

Select the X control labeled **Dismiss**, then confirm. This records a dismissed resolution and removes the item from this list. It leaves the underlying bank transaction in place.

## What happens next

Use [Match a bank transaction](https://demo.qixcount.com/help/banking/match-a-transaction) or [Categorize and add a bank transaction](https://demo.qixcount.com/help/banking/categorize-a-transaction) for the underlying accounting task. An empty list means no unresolved flagged records match the current filters.

## Good to know

**Exceptions** lists bank records flagged for human review and not yet resolved. The reasons can include no suitable match, competing matches, an amount difference, an amount beyond the automatic-matching limit, or a change at the bank.

You need *Perform reconciliation*. Opening a record with **View Details** also needs *View reconciliations*. Owners have both.
