# Balance funds with interfund offsets

Preview and add due-to and due-from lines to a saved Nonprofit journal draft.

Canonical: https://demo.qixcount.com/help/accounts-and-journals/balance-funds-with-interfund-offsets

Who can do this: Owners, or people with *Preview and apply interfund offsets* and *View journal entries*

Where: Books, then Journal entries

You'll need: Advanced accounting turned on in Features; a balanced Nonprofit draft, approved due-to/from mappings, and an active Operating fund

## Preview and apply offsets

1. [Create the journal draft](https://demo.qixcount.com/help/accounts-and-journals/create-a-journal-entry), or [save changes](https://demo.qixcount.com/help/accounts-and-journals/edit-or-delete-a-draft) to an existing draft.
2. Open the saved draft's detail page.
3. Select **Preview interfund offsets**.
4. Review the fund names, due-to and due-from relationships, and amounts shown.
5. Select **Apply offsets to saved draft** when the preview shows pairs.
6. Review the added lines on the draft detail page.

Previews always use the saved draft. If you edit the journal, save before previewing again. When every fund is already balanced, the preview says no offsets are needed and does not offer an apply action.

## What happens next

QixCount adds a credit to the mapped due-to account and a debit to the mapped due-from account for each pair. The lines retain the related fund and counterparty fund information. The journal remains a draft; applying offsets does not post it.

Next, [post the reviewed journal](https://demo.qixcount.com/help/accounts-and-journals/post-a-journal-entry).

## Troubleshooting

If preview asks for account mappings, have someone with mapping approval access review them. If it asks for active funds or valid coding, correct those lines and save again. A draft whose funds do not balance cannot use **Post Entry** yet.

## Good to know

A Nonprofit journal can balance overall while individual funds do not. Interfund offsets add paired due-to and due-from lines to balance the funds in the saved draft.

## Who can do this and what you need

This task is available for an ordinary Nonprofit draft, including a manual journal. Posted entries, reversal drafts, and closing entries cannot receive offsets here.

Owners can use the action. Other active business users need **Preview and apply interfund offsets**, and journal view access to open the draft. The business needs approved account mappings and an accessible active or trial Nonprofit subscription. Due-to and due-from mappings must be approved and point to active liability and asset accounts respectively.

The business also needs an active Operating fund. Every line needs an active fund and valid coding. Total debits must equal total credits before QixCount can calculate offsets.
